James is co-founder and CTO of PulsAPI. Before PulsAPI he was a staff engineer at a Series C infrastructure company where third-party outages were a constant operational pain. He started PulsAPI to solve the problem once and for all.
Why We Built PulsAPI
Every engineering team has the same story. It's 2 AM, the pager goes off, error rates are spiking, and the first 20 minutes are spent figuring out whether the problem is in your code or in one of the 40 cloud services your application depends on.
We built PulsAPI because we lived this story too many times. The cloud ecosystem has grown incredibly, but observability into the cloud itself hasn't kept pace. Each provider has its own status page with its own format, its own notification system, and its own quirks. There was no single source of truth.
