Introducing Stack Impact Intelligence: Go Beyond Uptime Monitoring
Map your cloud vendor infrastructure directly to core business capabilities. Get immediate, explainable context during third-party outages so your engineering team knows exactly what customer workflows are impacted.
The Problem with Raw Uptime Metrics
When a critical cloud vendor goes down, the first question in your incident war room is rarely 'What is the error rate?' It is almost always: 'What customer workflows are broken right now?'
Most status monitoring tools fail to answer this question. They tell you that AWS S3 in us-east-1 is degraded or that Stripe's API is returning 500s. But bridging the gap between "Stripe API is down" and "User checkout is currently failing for our premium tier" requires tribal knowledge, frantic Slack messages, and manual mental mapping.
This disconnect between infrastructure alerts and business context causes slower triage times, misaligned priorities, and worse communication with your customers.
Connecting Infrastructure to Business Capabilities
Today, we are announcing Stack Impact Intelligence — a radically new approach to vendor status monitoring that bridges the gap between third-party infrastructure and your core business capabilities.
Instead of just subscribing to vendor components, you can now define high-level Business Capabilities in PulsAPI (e.g., 'Payment Processing', 'User Authentication', 'Video Transcoding') and map your cloud services and specific components to them.
When an outage occurs, PulsAPI instantly correlates the degraded vendor components with your mapped capabilities. This provides your team with immediate, explainable context on exactly which parts of your product are impacted.
Triage Outages in Seconds, Not Minutes
With Stack Impact Intelligence, your incident response fundamentally changes.
When a vendor alert fires, your team doesn't need to guess the blast radius. PulsAPI's capability dashboard instantly highlights exactly which business functions are degraded, providing a clear map of the impacted internal teams and customer-facing features.
We also compute immediate Triage Stats, showing you exactly how many capabilities are in a Major Outage or Degraded state, allowing engineering leadership to assess the severity of a third-party outage at a glance.
How to Build Your Capability Map
Setting up Stack Impact Intelligence is fast and intuitive.
First, head to the new Capabilities section in your Dashboard. Define your core business capabilities (e.g., 'Authentication', 'Analytics'). Next, assign an criticality level (Critical, High, Medium, Low) and establish team ownership.
Finally, link your subscribed vendor components to each capability. If 'Authentication' depends on Auth0 and AWS Cognito, link both. Once mapped, the next time Auth0 experiences an outage, your team will immediately see the 'Authentication' capability flagged as degraded.
Stack Impact Intelligence is available now for all teams on Pro plans and above. Start mapping your stack today and turn raw status alerts into actionable business intelligence.
