UptimeRobot Bought IsDown: What Changed for IsDown Customers, and What Didn't
IsDown has been owned by UptimeRobot s.r.o. since 1 June 2026. What moved (company, billing, terms), what stayed, and what nobody has promised yet.
The Short Answer
IsDown, the status page aggregator at isdown.app, has been owned and operated by UptimeRobot s.r.o. since 1 June 2026. IsDown announced it on its own blog on 16 June 2026, and UptimeRobot announced the acquisition on 29 July 2026. Neither company has published the price.
For an existing IsDown customer, very little changed on day one. IsDown says your plan, price, login, data and team stay the same, and that it is not winding IsDown down. What did change is the company you have a contract with, the name on your invoice, and the Terms of Service. On 23 September 2026 UptimeRobot also launched its own third-party monitoring feature, built on IsDown's provider data and sold as a small quota inside UptimeRobot plans.
This article is for IsDown customers, and for people who were about to become one, who want to know what the deal means before their next renewal. We run PulsAPI, which competes with IsDown, so we have kept this page to what the two companies have said in public and dated every figure. The comparison of options is in a separate article, IsDown alternatives.
Timeline
The two announcements are six weeks apart, which is why you will see both June and July quoted as the acquisition date. June is when ownership moved. July is when UptimeRobot told its own users.

What Changed for IsDown Customers
The counterparty. Until 31 May 2026 IsDown was operated by While True Ventures, Lda, a Portuguese company in Lisbon. From 1 June 2026 it is UptimeRobot s.r.o., a Slovak company in Bratislava. Both are inside the EU, so this is not a transfer of data outside the EU, but it is a change of the company that processes your account data.
The invoice. IsDown said it would move billing to UptimeRobot s.r.o. within about 30 days of the announcement, with the same amount and the same schedule. Customers on Stripe invoices needed to do nothing; the new company name simply appears on the next invoice. Customers on enterprise or custom contracts were told they would be contacted personally to move the agreement across.
The terms. IsDown said it was updating its Terms of Service and billing information to name the new company. It said the way it handles your data and privacy stays the same. The announcement does not mention a data processing agreement, subprocessors or data location, so if your company keeps a vendor register, that is the gap to close yourself.

What UptimeRobot Built on Top of It
UptimeRobot's reason for the deal was to move from "is my site up?" to "is everything my site depends on up?". Its answer is a feature called third-party monitoring, launched on 23 September 2026. You pick the providers your product depends on, select the components you use, and get alerted through UptimeRobot's existing channels when those components change. UptimeRobot says it covers more than 6,000 providers and combines what the provider reports with reports from people using the service.
It is sold as an allowance inside each paid UptimeRobot plan, separate from the website monitor quota. That allowance is small next to what IsDown sells: 20 third-party services on the Team plan, against 30 to 150 monitors on IsDown's paid plans.

What Has Not Been Promised
IsDown's words were "we're not winding IsDown down, and we're not burying it inside something else". UptimeRobot's launch post says IsDown "remains a standalone product, and existing customers can keep using it as they do today". Both statements are about now. Neither post gives a roadmap for IsDown as a separate product, a commitment on future prices, or a date by which the two will or will not merge.
That is normal for an acquisition announcement, and it does not mean anything bad is coming. It does mean that a renewal decision you make this quarter is based on what the product is today, not on a promise about next year. An annual plan locks in today's price; a monthly plan keeps your options open.
Should You Do Anything?
If IsDown covers your vendors, your alerts arrive where you need them and nothing about the price bothers you, the honest answer is no. The product you bought is still running with the same team.
There are three situations where it is worth looking now rather than at renewal. First, if your company's vendor register or DPA names While True Ventures, Lda: update it to UptimeRobot s.r.o., whether you stay or not. Second, if you already pay for UptimeRobot: its third-party allowance may cover a small stack without a second subscription, though 20 services on Team is tight. Third, if your stack has grown past your monitor quota, because that is the point where every aggregator, IsDown included, asks you to move up a tier.
If you do decide to look, IsDown alternatives compares the options at real prices, and how to migrate from IsDown is the checklist for moving without a gap in alert coverage.
FAQ
Who owns IsDown now? UptimeRobot s.r.o., a company registered in the Slovak Republic, has owned and operated IsDown since 1 June 2026. The previous operator was While True Ventures, Lda in Portugal. IsDown continues as a standalone product under its own name.
Is IsDown shutting down? No. Both IsDown and UptimeRobot have said IsDown stays a standalone product and that existing customers can keep using it as they do today. Neither company has published a long-term roadmap for it.
Did IsDown prices change after the acquisition? IsDown said plans and prices stay the same for existing customers. On 3 November 2026 its pricing page listed Starter at $27 a month ($22 billed yearly), Pro at $49 ($40), Premium at $99 ($80) and Business at $179 ($150), with no free plan.
Is UptimeRobot third-party monitoring the same as IsDown? It runs on IsDown's provider data, but it is a separate feature inside UptimeRobot with its own quota, for example 20 third-party services on the Team plan. IsDown itself remains a separate product with separate plans.
