What to Do When OVHcloud Is Down

OVHcloud is strongly datacenter-scoped, more so than most cloud providers. An incident in Gravelines, Roubaix, Strasbourg or Beauharnois frequently leaves every other location untouched, so the first question is always which datacenter your resources are in rather than whether OVHcloud is down.

The layers fail separately and it is worth checking them in order: network reachability to the datacenter, the hypervisor or host, then the individual service. A server that responds to ping but not to SSH is a different problem from a whole rack being unreachable, and OVHcloud's own tooling distinguishes them.

For dedicated servers, the management interface and the server itself have independent failure modes. Losing the control panel while the machine keeps serving traffic is common, and it is not an outage of your service. Worth knowing before anyone declares an incident.
